North Point Filtration Plant Rock Crawling – Milwaukee, Wisconsin

The spots I’ve crawled near the North Point Filtration Plant, which is at the north end of Lincoln Memorial Drive along the Lakefront in Milwaukee, are just south of the plant. There is a parking lot for the Soccer/Rugby field where you can park and take the short walk to the rocks at the shore of Lake Michigan.

There are several types of rocks including broken concrete and construction debris, medium sized rocks, driftwood and Dolomite fill. The crawlable area extends about 1/4 mile along the shore and it took me a couple of hours to make the walk while crawling the whole time. There are some really good lines and this would be a super spot for a competition as there could be a bunch of routes all near each other.

If there is a downside to this area it is the organic matter that washes up on the shore and decomposes. Depending on the time of the year it can be fairly aromatic. The times I’ve been there this summer it has been dry and not too smelly.
